Homemade Alfredo Sauce from Scratch – Rich, Creamy, and Ready in Minutes

This Alfredo sauce from scratch is luxuriously creamy, full of rich garlic-Parmesan flavor, and so much better than anything from a jar. Made with just a handful of fresh ingredients like butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, it comes together in minutes for the perfect pasta sauce. Simple, comforting, and versatile—this classic Italian-inspired sauce will be your new go-to for fettuccine Alfredo, casseroles, or dipping breadsticks.

Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp Butter
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 C Fresh grated parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
  • 3 cups Heavy cream
  • 2 tsp Garlic Salt, more to taste
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper, more to taste
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large sauce pan sauté the garlic and butter together for about 2 minutes on medium heat. 
  2. Slowly mix in the heavy cream, and then add the parmesan cheese. 
  3. Mix until there are no lumps and the sauce is nice and hot.
  4. Add salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and garlic salt (if desired), stirring continuously for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the mozzarella cheese and stir until sauce becomes creamy (not lumpy).
  6. Serve sauce immediately on your favorite dish (If sauce rests for too long it tends to become too thick or separates as it cools), and ENJOY!.

Notes

  • PRO TIP:  Make sure that you are cooking it no hotter than medium heat, so not to burn the sauce and please stir constantly.
  • PRO TIP:  If sauce separates or becomes to thick, add more cream and reheat.
