Delicious, Flaky, Old Fashioned Pie Crust
This is the ultimate homemade, flaky, flavorful pie crust you will find! It is perfect for any fruit, custard or meat type of pie. So easy to make!
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 4 – 9” Pie Crusts 1x
Ingredients

- 5 C Flour
- 10 TBSP Cornstarch
- 1/2 C Crisco Shortening
- 4 TBSP Granulated Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 C cold butter
- 1/2 C Lard
Water Mixture
- 3/4 C Ice Cold Water
- 1 tsp White Vinegar
- 1 large Egg
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt and mix with a whisk.
- Cut fats into small cubes and spread them into the flour.
- Using your clean hands or a pastry mixer, break up fats until they are about pea sized lumps.
- Next, mix water, white vinegar and egg in a small bowl with a fork until combined.
- Add water mixture to dry mixture little bits at a time. Mix with hands until combined to form a dough.
- Divide into 4 even sections and wrap in saran wrap and place in fridge until ready
- When ready roll out dough into the desired size for your pie.
- Will make 4 – 9″ pie crusts.
Notes
Pro-Tip: I put ice cubes into my water mixture to make sure it is super cold.
