This make into anything dough recipe is a family treasure.  It was given to me by my mom and given to her by hers.  Use this recipe to make yummy loafs of bread, cinnamon rolls, bread sticks, pizza dough, fry bread, dinner rolls. Possibilities are endless.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Yield: 75 Dinner Rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 C Warm water
  • 3 TBSP Dry active yeast
  • 4 Lg Eggs
  • 1 C Butter, softened
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1 C Dry milk
  • 1 C Potato flakes
  • 2 TBSP Salt
  • 1012 C All purpose flour

Instructions

    1. If you have a dough mixer, like a Bosch mixer, use that and follow the same instructions.
    2. In a large bowl, combine warm water and dry yeast.  Let sit for 5 mins until mixture is active.
    3. Add in butter, eggs, sugar, powdered milk, potato flakes, and salt.  Mix well.
    4. Then, add 5 cups of the flour and mix with a mixing spoon.
    5. Next, use your hands to complete mixing the dough together.
    6. After everything is mixed well, continue to add one cup of flour at a time until the mixture
forms dough.  It will be slightly sticky.
    7. In a separate large mixing bowl, add about 3-4 TBSP of oil (I use canola oil or whatever is on hand) and coat the mixing bowl.
    8. Place the dough in the oil coated bowl, cover with a clean towel and let rise for about 25 minutes.
    9. Punch down the dough and let rise again for the same amount of time.

Notes

  • PRO TIP: If water is too cold, it will not activate yeast and if water is too hot it will kill the yeast.
  • PRO TIP:  I like to let the dough rise three times, to help the dough be softer when it is cooked.Form the dough into whatever you want to cook and ENJOY!
  • LIFE CHANGING moment for me is when I got a Bosch mixer to mix my dough instead of using my hands. Takes so much less time and you get a more uniform dough. You can get it here.
