- Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 C Warm water
- 1 1/2 TBSP Dry active yeast
- 2 Lg Eggs
- 1/2 C Butter, softened (1 stick)
- 1/2 C Sugar
- 1/2 C Dry milk
- 1/2 C Potato flakes
- 1 TBSP Salt
- 5–6 C All purpose flour
Instructions
- If you have a dough mixer, like a Bosch mixer, use that and follow the same instructions.
- In a large bowl, combine warm water and dry yeast. Let sit for 5 mins until mixture is active.
- Add in butter, eggs, sugar, powdered milk, potato flakes, and salt.
- Mix well. Then, add 3 cups of the flour and mix with a mixing spoon.
- Next, use your hands to complete mixing the dough together.
- After everything is mixed well, continue to add one cup of flour at a time until the mixture forms dough. It will be slightly sticky.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, add about 2-3 TBSP of oil (I use canola oil or whatever is on hand) and coat the mixing bowl.
- Place the dough in the oil coated bowl, cover with a clean towel and let rise for about 25 minutes. Punch down the dough and let rise again for the same amount of time.
- Using butter or cooking spray, coat 3 bread loaf pans and set aside.
- Punch down the dough and pour onto a lightly floured surface, then separate into 3 equal size pieces.
- Using your clean hands, press the dough out flat to about the length of the bread pan.
- Roll it over itself until it shapes to a log shape. I like to fold the ends down underneath before putting in the bread pan but is not a requirement.
- Repeat steps 11 and 12 for the remaining sections of dough.
- Pre-heat oven to 350°F
- Place a clean kitchen towel over the prepared pans and allow to rise for about 30 minutes.
- Place in pre-heated oven for 25 – 30 minutes. (If Tops of bread is getting too brown, place a piece of tin foil over the tops so they don’t burn but still cook.)
- Remove from oven, glaze with butter while hot.
- Keep in loaf pan to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to complete cooling process.
- Enjoy as toast, make sandwiches or just top with butter and jam, but ENJOY!
