  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 C Warm water
  • 1 1/2 TBSP Dry active yeast
  • 2 Lg Eggs
  • 1/2 C Butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1/2 C Sugar
  • 1/2 C Dry milk
  • 1/2 C Potato flakes
  • 1 TBSP Salt
  • 56 C All purpose flour

Instructions

  1. If you have a dough mixer, like a Bosch mixer, use that and follow the same instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, combine warm water and dry yeast.  Let sit for 5 mins until mixture is active.
  3. Add in butter, eggs, sugar, powdered milk, potato flakes, and salt.
  4. Mix well. Then, add 3 cups of the flour and mix with a mixing spoon.
  5. Next, use your hands to complete mixing the dough together.
  6. After everything is mixed well, continue to add one cup of flour at a time until the mixture forms dough.  It will be slightly sticky.
  7. In a separate large mixing bowl, add about 2-3 TBSP of oil (I use canola oil or whatever is on hand) and coat the mixing bowl.
  8. Place the dough in the oil coated bowl, cover with a clean towel and let rise for about 25 minutes.  Punch down the dough and let rise again for the same amount of time.
  9. Using butter or cooking spray, coat 3 bread loaf pans and set aside.
  10. Punch down the dough and pour onto a lightly floured surface, then separate into 3 equal size pieces.
  11. Using your clean hands, press the dough out flat to about the length of the bread pan.
  12. Roll it over itself until it shapes to a log shape.  I like to fold the ends down underneath before putting in the bread pan but is not a requirement.
  13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for the remaining sections of dough.
  14. Pre-heat oven to 350°F
  15. Place a clean kitchen towel over the prepared pans and allow to rise for about 30 minutes.
  16. Place in pre-heated oven for 25 – 30 minutes.  (If Tops of bread is getting too brown, place a piece of tin foil over the tops so they don’t burn but still cook.)
  17. Remove from oven, glaze with butter while hot.
  18. Keep in loaf pan to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to complete cooling process.
  19. Enjoy as toast, make sandwiches or just top with butter and jam, but ENJOY!
