Old Fashioned Yellow Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream
Absolute perfection! Old fashion yellow cake cupcakes with whipped chocolate frosting is the best way to silence your sugar craving. This is a super moist, spongy, flavorful cake that everyone will love!

Ingredients

- 2 1/2 C Flour
- 2TBSP Corn starch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 eggs – room temperature
- 1 C buttermilk – room temperature
- 1 C Butter – softened
- 2 C Sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 batch of our Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
- Cupcake Liner
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350°F
- Get your cupcake pan out and line it with your favorite cup cake liners and set aside.
- In a medium size bowl, sift the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder and salt and set aside.
- In a glass measuring cup, combine the buttermilk and vanilla, stir until combined, set aside.
- In a large bowl whip the softened butter and sugar until light yellow and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing until just combined inbetween additions.
- Start by adding 1/3 of the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mix until just combined.
- Then alternate by adding 1/2 of the buttermilk mixture, until just combined.
- Repeat until the last of the flour is combined.
- Carefully spoon batter just over half way into cupcake liners, do not over fill.
- Place in pre-heated oven for 15-18 minutes, checking at the 15 minute mark. Remove from oven when an inserted toothpick comes out clean. —DO NOT over bake.
- Transfer to wire rack to cool for 1 hour before adding any frosting.
