  • 1 C Salted Real Butter, plus more for the Bundt pan
  • 1/3 C Cocoa Powder, I used Hershey unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 3/4 C Sugar
  • 2 C Flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 Lg Eggs
  • 3/4 C Buttermilk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 3/4 C HOT Coffee, fresh brewed

For the Chocolate Icing

  • 1/2 C Butter
  • 2/3 C Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, sifted ( I used Hershey’s Brand)
  • 3 1/2 C Powdered Sugar, I used C&H Brand
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/41/3 C Milk

Instructions

  1. Pre-Heat Oven to 350°F and place the oven rack in the center of the oven.
  2. Grease a bundt pan with butter and dust it with flour, be generous with the butter.
  3. In a small sauce pan, on medium heat, melt butter, then add cocoa powder, salt and water until combined. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking soda by using a whisk.
  5. Slowly mix in the butter mixture until combined.
  6. Add one egg at a time, mixing well between each addition.
  7. Slowly mix in the buttermilk and vanilla until mixture is combined.
  8. Last, but not least, slowly pour the HOT coffee, stirring as you pour, until mixture is smooth.
  9. Pour batter into the greased, dusted bunt pan and place in oven.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 35-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack or cake plate.

For the Icing:

  1. In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter then add the cocoa powder and mix until smooth.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift in powdered sugar.
  3. Add butter mixture and vanilla, mix well. Mixture will be a little crumbly.
  4. Slowly add in milk while continuing to mix. Icing will thin quickly, so be careful not to pour too much milk at a time.
  5. After you have your icing your preferred consistency, proceed to ice your cake. And ENJOY every bite!
